Is a project at the Kópavogur Branch of the Red Cross that offers immigrants a chance to meet Icelandic volunteers and speak Icelandic with them. The purpose is to give those you want to learn more Icelandic an opportunity to use the language and increase their vocabulary. The meetings take place once a week.

The ideology of the project is to build a relationship between two women who both benefit from it. One is from Iceland (Mentor) and the other one from a foreign country (Mentee). Through this program we connect women who are able to exchange information with each other on equal grounds.
By participating, Mentors get the opportunity to get to know different cultures better which gives them a greater understanding of the multicultural society. Mentees get the opportunity to get to know the Icelandic society and culture better, to train their Icelandic and get support regarding education and work.

International parents will meet weekly with their children during the fall of 2009. We welcome parents of all nationalities who have children at the age of 0-6 years, and who want to meet other parents with small children.
Do you want to find out how 20 million refugees in the world live their daily lives? People that are forced to abandon their personal belonging and flee their country into the unknown.
