2nd October – United Nations „Day of Nonviolence“ PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 23 September 2009

The World March for Peace and Nonviolence now aims, incooperation with many organisations, to make a Human Peace Sign on Miklatún 2ndof October.

This day is the United Nations´s Day of Nonviolence as well as being the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. On this day also the actual World March will take off in Wellington, New Zealand.

This act consists of a great number of people lining up with torches in hands to make a big Human Peace Sign (see the attached photo of a Peace Sign made in Budapest last 6th of August in the memory of the victims of the nuclear bombings on Hirosima and Nagasaki)

The idea of a Human Peace Sign relies on associations and individuals to make themselves responsible for a certain number of participants. We will sell tickets beforehand at 500 kronur in exchange of which the participants will get on one torch when they arrive to the event. There are already some organizations that have confirmed participation in this project.

By this letter we invite the Intercultural Centre and all its connecting associations and individuals to take part in this activity for Peace and Nonviolence.
