The Ministry of Justice and Ecclesiastical Affairs

The main role of the Ministry of Justice and Ecclesiastical Affairs is to uphold law and order and ensure that civil rights are respected. Also the Ministry supervises the affairs of the National Church of Iceland (Lutheran-Evangelical) and other religious denominations.

Through its general policy and the influence it exerts on legislation, it is the Ministry's aim to deserve a reputation for reliability and efficient supervision of the public services for which it is responsible under the Icelandic Government Ministries Act.
